2015 brought major change...Matt, suddenly a widower with two daughters after losing his wife to breast cancer. Four months later, Kari found herself widowed with five boys after tragically losing her husband to a sudden heart attack. They met the following year over a cup of coffee and then in August of 2017, they married and began blending their seven children.

Matt caught the coffee bug while traveling overseas to Australia in 2000.  After that trip, he began experimenting with various types of coffee and home roasting.  But this big blended family of coffee lovers called for more than just a home roaster. Sharing their love of coffee, they embarked on The Family Blend Coffee Roasters. 

"This is about more than coffee…it’s about friends, family and new beginnings," says Matt. "Friends sharing life, studying, business deals, new relationships....enjoying a cup of coffee can be the catalyst to many great things."
